Lot 271 Hitler Youth Knife repro. Knife appears old, leather on the scabbard seems right and is magnetic, markings are right on the knife. However accompanying the knife is an article on determining reproductions versus authentic, and this one fails in two places. First the springs to hold the blade inside the scabbard are not lined in heavy cotton, which is usually found on the originals, and second the shield inset into the handle is supposed to have the red area on the ends in a stipple design rather than solid red. (this one is solid red), also the border of the shield is supposed to be copper. We do not claim to be authorities on Nazi stuff, in general we prefer not to handle them unless it is part of an estate collection. All other parts of the knife seem right, but those two red flags all but confirm it is a repo. (121-251-lmi) Minimum bid $40.00
